Responding to an ODR

Responding to an ODR

School Administrators are alerted to ODRs (Office Disciplinary Referrals) on their workspace.  Below are instructions on how to respond to an ODR.

1. To respond to an ODR, select the Behavior Report number.

2.  Once open, review the information captured on the ODR and then scroll to the bottom of the report.

3.  Select “New Response” to add to the ODR and additional actions taken or to add a disposition.
4.      Select the student by checking the box under “Select Student”.

5.  Select the appropriate actions for the student behavior.  If an Exclusionary Consequence is selected, enter the dates for the beginning and end of the disposition and apply.

6.      Save Response.

7.  If the school process includes the addition of Student Comments, select the Student Comment button.  Student comments can be recorded or if the student declines to provide a comment, that designation can be logged in the report.  Once complete with the comments, “Save Student Comment”.

8.  If the school administrator desires to add additional items to the behavior report, they can utilize:

a.      New Comment

b.      Attach File- to add a PDF file to the report.

c.   Add an additional student to the ODR.

9.  Print Form provides the school administrator access to forms set up specific for their school district to communicate the disposition to the parent/guardians or other staff members regarding the behavior.

10.  Other tasks can be performed for the ODR if required.

a.      Corrections: If an element of the behavior needs correcting.

b.      Flag: If the report needs to be flagged for a correction.

c.       Change Status: If a report needs to be reopened, or resolved.

11.  Once all elements are completed for the ODR, the school administrator can either “Submit and Close” the report and the process is complete, or “Submit and Keep Open” the report to have the ODR remain on the ODR Requiring Action column.
